MoDOT Worker Walks from St. Charles To Kansas City

Jim Feeney hoped to raise money for fallen MoDOT workers.

Missouri Department of Transportation Maintenance Crew Leader Jim Feeny left St. Charles early Friday morning on foot in hopes of walking 104 miles to Jefferson City in five days.

This is the third year Feeney has done the walk with his wife--this year, going from the "first capitol to the new capitol" is the longest journey yet.

The couple hope to raise awareness of the danger of going too fast in a work zone and raise funds for a monument they'd like to see built in Jefferson City.

Since 1930, 130 workers have died on the road, Feeney said.

"That's why I'm doing it, just keep the memory alive and promote workzone safety," he said.
