Jazz and Wine Night in St. Charles To Kick Off United Way Campaign

Tri-County Division of United Way contributed $3 million to St. Louis United Way Campaign in 2010.

The Tri-County Division of the United Way is kicking off the annual fundraising campaign on Sept. 17 with an evening of wine, chocolate and jazz in St. Charles.

Denise Thimes, a jazz singer who has performed for the likes of Queen Elizabeth II and George W. Bush, will sing at the fundraising event which will be held at the Grand Opera House, 311 North Main Street. Tickets are $60 and include wine, hors d'oeurves and chocolate. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Thimes performed at a similar event last year which was held at the Foundry Art Centre.

According to the United Way, the Tri-County Division of the United Way covers Lincoln, Warren and St. Charles Counties. Fundraising campaigns start in September and will raise money to benefit 170 health and service organizations in those counties.
