Explosive Video Shows Range of Fourth of July Firework Accidents

Plus, St. Charles County Officials offer seven tips for putting on a firework show at home.

officials this week warned residents about the dangers of neighborhood firework displays. 

Fireworks are permitted in St. Charles County, from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. July 2 to 5, and in the city of St. Charles between 11 a.m. and 10 p.m. July 3 and 4. 

St. Charles County government issued a press release with tips for staying safe while using fireworks.

  1. Keep a source of water handy, whether it be a bucket of water or a hose.
  2. Stay a safe distance away when using fireworks.
  3. Light only one item at a time. Attempting to light more than one can resultin severe injury.
  4. Point the item away from other people.
  5. Have a designated “shooter.” Alcohol and fireworks are a dangerous combination.
  6. Refrain from relighting malfunctioning fireworks.
  7. Avoid using glass or metal containers as a base for shooting fireworks.
