Crash Shuts Down Blanchette Bridge Briefly Sunday

One person was taken to the hospital.

A crash on the Blanchette Bridge Sunday morning briefly closed down a few lanes of westbound Interstate 70. 

Three cars were traveling westbound on I-70 in lane five when heavy congestion forced the cars to slow. 

Kaleb Black, 22, was driving a 1990 Dodge Dakota which struck the rear of a Trailblazer driven by Dennis Otten, 60. Otten's car rolled forward and struck the rear of a Ford F150 driven by Rachel Dougherty, 30.

Black, of St. Charles, was taken to by St. Charles County Ambulance. 

A second accident on westbound Interstate 70 Sunday afternoon sent one person to the hospital.

Traffic had slowed a stop on westbound I-70 when Susan Truetken, 47, driving a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am, failed to stop and struck the back of a car driven by Joseph Bell, 28. 

Bell's car rolled forward hitting a car driven by William Trask, 70. Finally, a car driven by Austin Pettis, 23, struck the back of Truetken's car. 

Truetken was taken to St. Joseph Health Center by St. Charles County Ambulance. Her car had extensive damage.
