Ehlmann calls St. Charles a unique community within the County.

St. Charles County Executive Steve Ehlmann was featured on the May 29 edition of "St. Louis On the Air."

Ehlmann wrote a follow up to his 2004 book about the history of St. Charles County, called Crossroads. Volume 2 looks 'more deeply into every era of the county's history' according to a description on the publisher's website

Ehlmann said St. Charles is a special community, but mentioned the city has had a hard time making the transition to a college town.

He reminded listeners of the attempt by some city council members to ban dancing on tables at bars in St. Charles in 2008. Although banning dancing on tables may sound fine, said Ehlmann, "If you are going to be a college town ... that’s sort of something that comes with it," he said. "A little bit of rowdiness that wasn’t acceptable 20 years ago."
