Business News: 28/65 Brewhouse Opens, Chevy's Closes

Brewhouse has 28 vodkas and 65 beers on tap.

A new brewhouse opened at 2865 Veteran's Memorial Parkway in St. Charles Sept. 24. 

The pub, called 28/65 Brewhouse, has 28 types of vodka and 65 types of beer on tap, as well as American pub-style food. (See attached photo for full list of beers). 

The restaurant also features five booths with TV monitors built in the side of the booth and a game room.

Chevy's Closes

Chevy's Fresh Mex, located at 2911 Veterans Memorial Parkway, Sept. 25. Franchisee John Whicker owned seven Chevy's restaurants in the St. Louis area, and decided to close the locations in St. Charles and in Ellisville last week because they were under-performing, according to an article in the Suburban Journals

A year ago, Whicker filed for bankruptcy and tried to have a judge terminate the lease agreement with the owner building at the St. Charles location, according to an article in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Chamber, Cities Partner on "Shopping With the Saints" Holiday Campaign

St. Charles, St. Peters and the Greater St. Charles Chamber of Commerce are promoting keeping holiday shopping local with a new campaign called "Shopping with the Saints" which will be unveiled in October on area billboards. 

"We do not want to have empty windows or empty buildings in our cities," said St. Peters Mayor Len Pagano. He said the cities are working together to keep shoppers in town, especially after traffic on the westbound Blanchette Bridge span is diverted to the eastbound span in early November. 

Scott Tate, president of the Chamber of Commerce, said the Chamber will offer a chance to win $500 if people turn in three receipts from businesses in St. Charles and three receipts from businesses in St. Peters in the month of November. More information was promised at a later date on that promotion. 

Mercy Opens Medical Building on Zumbehl 

A new medical building opened at 1820 Zumbehl Road Sept. 17. The Mercy facility include clinics for family medicine, internal medicine, heart and vascular, and maternal and fetal health. Learn more about Mercy's plans for expansion in St. Charles County here. 

Chef at Hendricks BBQ Wins Taste of St. Louis Chef Battle Royale 

Chris Lee, chef at Hendricks BBQ, won the Chef Battle Royale at the Taste of St. Louis. Lee battled against two different chefs before going up against Jack MacMurray in the final round, according to Bobby Autry of Entertainment St. Louis. See more at Fox2.
