Boone's Lick Road, South Main Street Intersection to Close Monday

New handicap ramps and cross walks will be installed. The intersection will be closed until Aug. 6.

Information provided by Carol Felzien

The St. Charles Public Works department will close the intersection at South Main Street and Boone’s Lick Road for a two-week window beginning Monday, July 23.  During this time period, brick pavers will be removed, new handicap ramps, crosswalks and concrete base will be installed, prior to relaying the brick pavers.

Due to the construction method of laying paver streets it will not be possible to construct in halves or phases and keep the intersection open to traffic.  All handicap ramps and crosswalks will be ADA compliant and will compliment the historic nature of the reconstructed street.

Detours will be posted throughout this process.  Adjacent property owners will receive door hanger updates.

Once the intersection of South Main and Boone’s Lick is reopened to traffic early the morning of Monday, August 6, there will be no further closures within this intersection.  Small side-related tasks may require flagman controlled traffic through the intersection for worker safety, but traffic will be accommodated.
