With the temperature warming up, pollen everywhere and air-conditioners turning on, it's clear to say spring is here.

April is done and in the books, closing the chapter the fourth month of 2013. The cold is gone and now thoughts turn to summer. However, before we get too deep into May, let's take a look back at April.

  • A St. Charles man was indicted Friday on forcible sodomy and child abuse charges in addition to first-degree murder in the death of a 4-month-old baby. A St. Charles County grand jury indicted Jordan Lafayette Prince, 24, of the 3600 block of Fremont Drive in St. Charles, for choking a 4-month-old baby on Dec. 3. The child died Dec. 4.

  • A St. Charles County homeowner found a woman hiding in her closet and held her at gunpoint until officers arrived, a St. Charles County Sheriff’s deputy reported. Brittnee Traylor, 21, of the 1400 block of South Drive in St. Charles County, was charged with first-degree burglary and felony theft. She is scheduled to appear in St, Charles County Circuit Court Friday.

Election Results in St. Charles

  • April 2 was Municipal Election Day in St. Peters and readers turned out in droves to find out the winners and losers.

  • A St. Charles man broke a beer bottle over his ex-girlfriend’s head Thursday, cutting her face and head in three places. One three-inch-long gash was deep enough to cause underlying fatty tissue to protrude, according to a court document. Michael Alan Nunn, 43, of the 1400 block of Carbine Lane in St. Charles, was charged Thursday with second-degree domestic assault. The assault took place at their home, police said. He and his ex-girlfriend live together, according to a police report.

St. Charles Man Dies After Car Crashes Into Tree On Hwy. D

  • A 21-year-old St. Charles man is dead after the car he was driving hit a tree near the Highway D and Highway 94 intersection Tuesday evening. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Matthew Wiese was driving eastbound on Highway D, near the Highway 94 intersection, when he traveled off the left side of the road and struck a tree. 

  • Schnucks released its list of St. Louis area stores that were impacted by the recent security breach. As a result of that breach, Schnucks customers across the St. Louis area have found fraudulent charges on their debit and cards. In St. Charles, the Zumbehl Schnucks was on the list. 

Dunkin' Donuts to Open in June in St. Charles

  • Dunkin' Donuts, which was reported to be building a St. Charles location in August, will open in June at the intersection of Boone's Lick Road and 5th Street.  Construction to the building, located at 530 Boone's Lick Road, is well underway with the exterior now up and beginning to take shape. 

UPDATE: Voluntary Boil Order Lifted for 8-Block Area

  • The City of St. Charles issued a voluntary 24-hour boil order for an eight-block area of the city after an early-morning water main break and subsequent repairs resulted in low water pressure. After tests found no bacteria in the water, the order was lifted.

Update: Armed Steak 'n Shake Robbers Ram Cop Car Trying to Escape Police

  • St. Charles Police have arrested two 18-year-old men in connection with an armed robbery ofSteak 'n Shake on First Capitol Drive early Wednesday morning. Joshua A. Stone, 18, of St. Louis, was charged with First Degree Robbery and Armed Criminal Action and is currently being held on a $250,000 bond. Seth J. Thompson, 18, of St. Charles, was charged with First Degree Robbery and Armed Criminal Action and is currently being held on a $250,000 bond. The two officers who received minor injuries as a result of the impact of the suspect vehicle striking the officers’ patrol vehicles  were treated and released from a local medical facility.

Local Roadways Closed Due to Flooding

  • A deluge of rain in late April caused the city to close several roads in case of flooding.
