Give a Girl in Need a Special Prom by Donating Dresses to Cinderella Project

The Cinderella Project is collecting new and gently used formal dresses to give to girls in financial need for their Proms.

Ever wonder what to do with your old prom, bridesmaid and other formal dresses hanging in the back of your closet? Through the Cinderella Project, you can donate your gently used formal dresses and give a special prom experience to girls experiencing financial need. Dresses are being collected at the customer service desks at CBL Malls (MidRivers, Chesterfield, West County and South County), as well as at West Oak Cleaners locations in St. Louis County.

This year, more than 200 girls have been referred by local schools to receive free prom dresses from the Cinderella Project. This year, Cinderella Project is in special need of plus-size dresses to accomodate all of these VIP girls. Both long and short styles are accepted.

Dresses not given to the VIP girls will be sold to the public beginning on Pink Saturday, March 9. More than 3000 dresses, some brand new and worth several hundred dollars, will be sold for $39 (long) and $29 (short) - a great way to find a bargain dress for an upcoming wedding, fundraising event or other formal occasion. The public sale will continue on Sunday, March 10, from 1 - 4 p.m., and the following two weekends on Fridays 6 - 8 p.m., Saturdays 10 am. - 6 p.m. and Sundays 1 - 4 p.m. All proceeds from the public sale support the Community Council of St. Charles County's ongoing efforts to help fragile families by addressing the issues of homelessness, hunger and affordable housing in our communities.
