Leadership Growth

Leaders are made, not born. They are constantly trying to figure out new ways to improve themselves and those around them. Leadership requires continual growth and this week we’ll take a look at five keys for growth and success in coaching and leadership.

First, you must love what you do. Everything worthwhile in life is difficult. There is no doubt that you are going to encounter obstacles. However, the love of the game or business you’re in will pull you through. You got into your profession because you have something of value to offer. Go back to the love that got you into it. If you don’t love what you, you’re not a leader and you should probably look for a different career.

Secondly, be a mirror. Let your attitude and energy reflect back on your players and co-workers. Others look up to you, more than you know. Your attitude and energy are critical, as they set the tone for everyone else. When I reflect back on our practices, I know that our best ones are the ones where I am energetic and have a great attitude. Before practice or a meeting, you must take a few minutes to collect your thoughts and get into the right mental state so you can lead with energy.
