Tips for Hosting a Winery Wedding

By Becky Dunston, Event Manager   You’ve made a decision to host your wedding at a winery, now what? How can you integrate the winery-theme throughout your entire wedding day/weekend?  Hopefully these tips will help you plan your picture perfect wedding day.

· Integrate winery-themed decorations throughout the ceremony and reception. For example, a wine barrel can serve as the officiant’s podium and the aisle can be decorated with plenty of greenery to reflect the natural beauty of your surroundings.

·Take advantage of the beautiful scenery around you. Make sure the wedding photographer incorporates photos in the vineyards, historic wine cellars, near the wine racks, and more.

·Meet with the winemaker prior to the wedding to help you select a wine that pairs well with the dinner. Guests will enjoy tasting award-winning wine including nationally-recognized ports, and champagne.

·Weddings hosted at wineries offer old-world charm and destination-appeal, with the affordability and proximity to your hometown. Consider booking rooms at a bed and breakfast for your guests to enjoy a weekend getaway. If guests decide to book a room, offer them a complimentary Mount Pleasant wine bottle to enjoy on their own.

·Offer wine-related favors to guests so they always remember the vineyard and your affinity for wine. Mount Pleasant recommends Riedel glassware as a special and useful souvenir for your guests.
