Mount Pleasant Introduces New Red Wine

There is nothing better than bringing new wine to our guests. Today I have the pleasure of introducing a fresh red wine, the Chambourcin. This unoaked red wine is the newest member of our Mount Pleasant Estates line. It’s a light, dry wine packed with great fruit tones of cherries. It’s a perfect everyday wine and pairs well with white meat, especially pork and chicken.

Thanks to last year’s early harvest we were able to create this wine. Remember the drought last year? While some crops suffered, we were doing a little happy dance because our grapes love the hot, dry climate. Early harvest is good for wine lovers as grapes have higher sugar content and more concentrated flavor.

The 2012 season was an ideal grape-growing season across the board, but especially here in Missouri. Due to last year’s extended spring, warm summer days and cool summer nights, Missouri saw one of its best growing seasons and now, we get to get taste the fruits of Mother Nature!
