St. Charles Mayor Sally Faith to Provide Commemorative 10,000th Ride for ITNStCharles on April 12

ITNStCharles celebrates 10,000th ride, Friday April 12, 10 AM at Crooked Tree Coffee House. St. Charles Mayor Sally Faith is volunteering, and Cry Purple author Christine McDonald will sign books.

St. Charles, MO, April 9, 2013 – When Christine McDonald gave birth to her son over 7 years ago, she also lost her sight, and had no idea how she was going get around with her new son.  Now, ITNStCharles, a non-profit transportation service, takes her where she needs to go, and even allows her son to ride with her without paying extra. This Friday, Christine will be ITNStCharles’ lucky 10,000th rider. St. Charles Mayor Sally Faith is commemorating this occasion by volunteering to drive Christine from her home to her book signing at local Crooked Tree Coffee House for her book Cry Purple.

“As a representative for the City of St. Charles,” said Mayor Sally Faith, “I am delighted to drive for ITNStCharles on Christine McDonald’s behalf, especially given she’s the 10,000th rider.  This transportation service makes a real difference in the lives of our residents, and I encourage others communitywide to take a moment to volunteer and drive giving others an opportunity to earn miles in the program.”

“It’s our pleasure to provide this service to Christine, and other St Charles County residents” said Susan Kallash-Baily, Executive Director of ITNStCharles.

“We currently have more than 20 volunteer drivers who, along with our organization’s paid drivers, provide rides in anywhere within the county, including: St Charles, St Peters, O’Fallon, Lake St Louis, Westville, Cottleville and surrounding areas.” Susan hopes others will follow the Mayor’s example and be inspired to help.

Volunteer drivers earn ride credits they can bank for themselves, or donate to others through the “Road Scholarship” Program, which helps support low-income seniors.  Mayor Faith will give back to the community this week by donating the miles she earns to the program.

Christine McDonald will be at the Crooked Tree Coffee House to sign her book on April 12 from 10-11:30 AM. Books will be available to purchase on site for $12. For more information, to volunteer or make a donation, please visit www.itnstcharles.org.
