The End of the World: Celebrate December 21, 2012 in St. Louis

Party the end of days away on Lindbergh Boulevard--attend a doomsday book discussion at Wired Coffee with T.W. Fendley, or rock out with Glorious Blue at Mile 277.

Do you think something big is in store for Dec. 21, 2012? So do several local businesses, which have scheduled 'end of the world' events to coincide with the turning of the Mayan calendar this Friday.

If you are really worried the world will end Friday,

Wired Coffee

Wired Coffee hosts a book signing with Chesterfield author T.W. Fendley, whose science-fiction work “Zero Time” mixes Mayan prophecy with time travel. Meet her at the Sunset Hills coffee shop from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., 3860 S. Lindbergh Blvd.

Fendley doesn’t think doomsday is headed our way, but does believe the date indicates the beginning of a new time cycle.

“It started out as a book signing, but I wanted it to be more than that, because it really is a time to celebrate,” she said. “I go to thinking, ‘What can we do to make it more festive?’”

She’s enlisted the talents of spiritualist Rhonda Leifheit and musician John MacEnulty. Leifheit will be speaking on Mayan principles, including the “galactic alignment.” Former conductor MacEnulty will lead a drum circle “resonating with the new energies of the changing times,” according Fendley’s website.

Mayan and Incan mythology are also a personal interest for Fendley. She said she began her research in 1997. “Zero Time” wasn’t published until 2011, but Fendley said her research has never stopped, and has attended multiple workshops and symposiums.

Attendees who purchase a CD a book will be eligible for a free Maya/Aztec astrology report.

Read a review of Fendley's novel on Creve Coeur Patch. If we make it through Friday, try reading "Jaguar Hope," the prequel to "Zero Time," which Fendley said is available free on Amazon Kindle on Dec. 22 and 23.

Mile 277

If you're in a more celebratory mood, head to Mile 277 at 6:30 p.m. for the start of their End of the World Party, 10701 Watson Rd. Grab a 2013 calendar (if you think you'll need it) signed by Mile 277's calendar girls. Happy Hour extends until 9 p.m. with the stylings of Mike Mattingly. Rockers Glorious Blue take the stage from 9 p.m. until close.

A portion of the night's proceeds will go to March of Dimes Bikers For Babies.

The Wolf Public House

The Wolf Public House is having an "End of the World Christmas Celebration" this Friday at 7 p.m. featuring live music from The Bradly Trio.

Maya Cafe

Maya Cafe owner Gene Coon doesn't claim to have an inside scoop on the day, but he is happy that the Mayans conveniently constructed their calendar with him in mind. He's planning big specials for what may be the last day of our existence!

Eddie's Pub

Head to Eddie's Pub in St. Charles around 8:45 p.m. Friday for a variety of rock, blues and country favorites to celebrate the end of the world. Cash only, no cover.

Padavan's NY

Go out with a bang and come to Padavan's NY for a night of music featuring Zack Weber, food and drink specials and Shocktops "End of the World" beer for a special price.

If you know of any other end of the world parties we should list, tell us in the coments!
