Planning and Zoning Approves West Clay Site for Used Car Dealership

The site has been vacant for five years.

A site at 2801 West Clay that has been vacant for five years could soon become a used car dealership once the site plan receives approval from the St. Charles City Council.

The site plan for the used car dealership, which allows up to 50 vehicles on display, was approved by the Planning and Zoning Commission at its June meeting.

The brick facade of the existing building will be repaired and doors and windows replaced. The rest of the exterior walls will be repainted.

The old gas station canopy and gas tanks were recently removed; the gas station sign will be removed and gravel areas left by the tank removal will be filled with concrete.

The developer will be applying to the board of adjustment for a variance to reduce the setback from the city's required 15 feet so that cars can be parked on the existing concrete.

Decorative boulders will be used instead of bollards for security. The developer will also remove trash and debris on the site and grade and re-seed some eroded areas.
