Find Waldo on Main Street, Win Prizes

Main Street Books hosts a 'Where's Waldo?' hunt for a chance to win a prize.

is hosting a month-long scavenger hunt for Waldo in a promotion that also encourages people to shop locally. 

During the month of July, children can hunt for Waldo figurines at Main Street Books and 16 other stores for a chance to win a complete set of "Where's Waldo?" books and other weekly prizes. 

After finding five "Where's Waldo" figurines, you can win a button and enter for the weekly drawing. Erwin plans to give away tote bags, postcard books and a complete set of "Where's Waldo?" books for the grand prize.

Main Street books is one of several local bookstores participating in the "Where's Waldo?" hunt, which is sponsored by Candlewick Press.

Erwin said this is the first time she's partnered with local businesses in St. Charles on a project. "It's a way to say shop local," she said, adding that her store relies on the success of the entire Main Street area.

Erwin said business is up . 

"I think it made people realize the precarious state of things," she said. "If something as big as Borders can close, how easy is it for (local shops) to just fold in on themselves." 

Main Street Books is one of just a handful of independent bookstores in St. Louis. Sue's News, which is located in the Galleria, is closing this month.
