Greater St. Charles County Chamber of Commerce Plans Events for 2012

St. Charles and St. Peters Chamber staff are now under one roof on First Capitol Drive as Greater St. Charles County Chamber of Commerce. Schedule for 2012 reflects events in both St. Charles and St. Peters.

The staff members of the new Greater St. Charles County Chamber of Commerce are working out of , located on First Capitol Drive in St. Charles.

About two weeks ago, Lori Tainter, office manager at St. Peters Chamber of Commerce, moved into the St. Charles Chamber office. Tainter joins St. Charles Chamber staff as the vice president of member services and new media coordinator.

The next step will be replacing the large sign on the outside of the building with one that reflects the new name.

Attendance at general membership meetings in January and February has been around 170-200 people, which is more than the average attendance at a St. Charles general membership meeting before the merger.

"Combining it has certainly helped both chambers out," Tate said.

The staff has also sorted out which events the Greater St. Charles Chamber of Commerce will host.

Coming up March 31 is the annual , which used to be run by the St. Peters Chamber of Commerce. Tate said the event has been held for about 19 years, but depending on how it does, may not continue next year.

"We want to make sure we bring value to all the people who participate," he said, adding that this year they will market the event a little differently than in the past.

The annual Sip and Savor event has the most potential for growth, Tate said. This will be held at Lakeside 370 Park June 21 this year instead of at St. Peters City Hall.

The annual prayer breakfasts will be combined under the Mayor's Prayer breakfast May 3 this year. The golf tournaments will also be combined and is scheduled for Aug. 6 at Bogey Hills Country Club.

The chamber will again host in December instead of holding "The Blast" at New Town. Tate said the 5k race through downtown St. Charles brought in nearly $16,000 last year with about 1,100 runners.

The chamber will aim to sign up 2,500 people for the race in 2012, he said.
