Five Classes to Flex Your Creativity

For adults and kids alike, these upcoming classes might spark your interest.

The end of summer is drawing near and fall is approaching rapidly. Transitions will be made in many ways, whether you or your child is going back to school or you are simply gearing up for colder weather.

You can add more fun skills to your repertoire to aid in the latter that will keep you occupied even when it snows. Get creative with these five upcoming classes.

  • Youth Drawing class- Kids in grades 6 through 12 will learn drawing and sketching techniques while working with a variety of meida. Class meets from 4-5:15 p.m. each Thursday from Sept. 8 to Dec. 15 at Foundry Art Centre.
  • Machine Applique class - Learn to machine applique with Sharon Brader from 10 a.m. to noon Aug. 27 at . You can learn techniques for embroidery designs that you'll love, especially if you're one for more antique or vintage looks. Cost $20 per person.
  • Block of the Month: Join . on the first Saturday of every month to help create a queen bed-sized, block print quilt. The upcoming theme is Van Gogh's Starry Night, so if you love the painting, help create the quilt. Hours on the first Saturday are from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.
  • Watercolor Painting: Learn watercolor painting through a series of exercises. This class is offered through the Adult and Community Education Department at City of St. Charles School District. Class will be held on Tuesdays from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 6 to Oct. 4 at the . Cost is $79. To register, visit this website.
  • Learn to Knit Socks- This is a great opportunity to learn to make something that will keep your toes warm as it starts to get cold. offers three lessons on knitting socks starting Sept. 4.
