The St. Louis area is said to consume more barbeque sauce per capita than any other city in the nation[1] so it was appropriately selected as the last regional stop on the National BBQ Tour before the national event. A complete list of teams and judges vying for a spot at nationals at the St. Charles event can be found at http://kcbs.us/sams-club-series.php.

WHAT:  St. Charles residents are invited to support their favorite barbecue teams in the Sam’s Club National BBQ Tour:

  • Watch professional barbecue teams from across Southern and Midwestern states compete in four categories - chicken, ribs, pork and brisket - for a chance to win a portion of the grand prize worth $500,000.

  • Meet grilling expert, author of The Big Book of BBQ and media personality Troy Black as he shares barbecue tips on authentic pulled pork, ribs and brisket at numerous times throughout the day;

  • Taste samples and learn tips from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. from sponsors and pros for better barbecues in your own backyard; and

  • The event is free and open to the public.

WHEN:  Saturday, Sept. 29, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

WHERE:  Sam’s Club, 2855 S. Service Road, St. Charles, Mo.

WHY:  Sam’s Club has the high-quality meats and side dishes to make every backyard griller a winner. You don’t have to be an expert to find a great cut of meat at Sam’s Club. The Sam’s Club National BBQ Tour is an opportunity for barbecue lovers to sample recipes and learn from the nation's best barbecue competitors, right at your local Sam’s Club.

The St. Charles competition is the last of five regional events and brings the final group of winning teams together from local qualifying events in Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas. Winners from the five regional events, including the St. Charles contest, will attend the national championship at the hometown of Sam’s Club in Bentonville, Ark., on Oct. 13, 2012.
