Conference Next Week Addresses Hackers and Cyber Security

TakeDownCon promises an in-depth look into the mind of a computer hacker June 3 and 4 at Ameristar Casino.

A conference at Ameristar Casino this weekend promises to give an in-depth look into the mind of a hacker.

The recent credit-card security breaches at Schnuck's have focused attention on how to protect against online attacks. Dave Chronister, a professional hacker and co-founder of Parameter Security warns that a system that has been compromised once can be easily attacked again.

Chronister will be speaking at TakeDownCon this weekend. Among the topics being discussed are how hackers maintain access to a site and continue to capture data through a backdoor they have created in a system.

Chronister will talk about the methods and tools that hackers use to do this.
The conference, which will run from June 3rd through June 4th, will feature 10 speakers with keynotes Charlie Miller from Twitter and Adrian Crenshaw of Irongeek.com.

Topics include Web Application Security, SCADA and Critical Infrastructures, Cloud Security, Mobile Hacking and more.

“Many security professionals believe their system is completely secure simply because they have a defense strategy in place,” Chronister said. “Through education and awareness, we will make them not only more aware of the potential vulnerabilities within their system, but ways to strengthen their defense.”

Conference registration information is available on the TakeDownCon website. The conference is sponsored by St. Charles' Parameter Security.
