Your Weekend: Music, Theater, Dance

Here are our top five picks for the weekend of Feb. 18-20.

The work week is almost over. It's time to plan your weekend fun. Your options include a concert, art, theater, dance and a Girl Scout talent show.

1. Bobby Goldsboro

Where/When: Goldsboro performs at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Bezemes Family Theater, J. Scheidegger Center for the Arts, 2300 W. Clay St., St. Charles.

Why go: The star of the 1970s variety show The Bobby Goldsboro Show and singer of the hits "Honey" and "Little Green Apples" will perform his songs, tell stories and look back on an impressive career.

Pricing: Tickets are $24.50, $32.50, $38.50 and $42.50.

2. Bobby Goldsboro Paintings

Where/When: The opening reception is from 1-5 p.m. Sunday. The exhibit will be on display through March 13. The Boyle Family Gallery, J. Scheidegger Center for the Arts, 2300 W. Clay St., St. Charles.

Why go: Musician Goldsboro will be on hand Sunday afternoon to share his oil paintings with the public.

Pricing: Free

3. The Riverside Shakespeare Theatre Co. presents ART 

Where/When: The play will be performed at 6 and 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday at The Foundry Arts Centre, 520 N. Main Center, St. Charles.

Why go: Yasmina Reza's Tony Award-winning play explores the nature of friendship as well as the question: What is art?  

Pricing: Tickets cost $15.

4. Student Dance Concert

Where/When: The concert will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Friday and at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Emerson Black Box Theater, J. Scheidegger Center for the Arts, 2300 W. Clay St., St. Charles.

Why go: Dance students at Lindenwood University will perform.

Pricing: There is no charge to attend.

5. Open Mic Day Event 

Where/When: The event occurs from 1-4 p.m. Saturday at Connections to Success, 1701 N. Second Street, St. Charles.

Why go: Local Girl Scout Troops will perform songs and dances, among other types of entertainment.

Pricing: Although there is no monetary fee, attendees should bring three to five personal care items packaged in a goodie bag and ready to be passed on to a woman or child in need.
