Pokémon Gamers to Compete in St. Charles This Weekend

Pokémon Trading Card Game and video game players will compete at 2013 Pokémon Winter Regional Championships at St. Charles Convention Center.

Pokémon fans and card game players will head to the St. Charles Convention Center this weekend for the annual Pokémon Winter Regional Championships. 

Competitors will play for a chance to go to the U.S. National Championships, held in Indianapolis, IN July 5-7. World Championships will be held in Vancouver, B.C., Canada. 

The Trading Card Game players will compete on Jan. 19 and video game players will compete Jan. 20.

Fans can come out to watch the events and pick up special Pokémons which will be given away during the event. 

Admission is free. Registration to participate runs from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

Other events happening include an art contest, which must be submitted before the first round, a cookie walk open between rounds, an art area for drawing open on Saturday, a trivia contest and dodge ball. See the full schedule here.

Smith, director of Consumer Marketing for The Pokémon Company International in a press release. “The Midwest has some of the best and most dedicated Pokémon players in the U.S., and we’re excited to be coming to town.”
