Tortoiseshell Cat, Purebred German Shepherd Available for Adoption

Heartland Humane Shelter has a dog and cat available for adoption

Fifi is a gorgeous long-haired Tortoiseshell cat with some possible Maine Coon lineage. Fifi was returned to Heartland after her family lost their home and couldn't keep her. In October 2011, she was adopted by an older lady, who died suddenly this past January. Fifi is a very loyal and loving companion and has perfect household manners. She does require a small adjustment period to acclimate to her surroundings, but tends to warm up pretty quickly. She loves to be cuddled and purs. Fifi is on a special diet to help maintain her urinary tract health, but it can be purchased from most vet clinics/pet food stores and is comparable in price to other reputable brands. Although she has lived with another cat before, she prefers to be the queen of the castle and receive all of the attention for herself and would excel as an only pet. She would make a wonderful companion for a single person, a family with older children, or an older couple.  FiFi is spayed, front-declawed, tested negative for FIV/FelV, up-to-date on shots, and microchipped.  DOB 3-31-06, tag #3985.

Ava is a female purebred German Shepherd who weighs about 50 pounds who is about six years old. She spent much of her life in an outdoor pen having puppies, many of whom didn't surive because they were born in the heat of the summer or cold winter. Ava is getting adjusted to being a house dog. House-training is coming along, with only the occasional accident. Ava gets along with most dogs, but needs a slow introduction. She has a high prey drive, so does not mix well with kitties or small dogs. If you are considering a rescue dog, bringing Ava home will truly allow you to say you saved a life and gave a neglected animal the chance to live out the rest of her live in indoor comfort. Ava is spayed, microchipped and fully vetted.

The Heartland Humane Society is a 501(c)3 non-profit group of dedicated foster homes that gives abandoned, abused, and unwanted animals another chance for loving, permanent homes through our adoption program, following the no-kill philosophy. We reduce pet overpopulation in our community through collaboration with veterinarians, animal welfare organizations, and supportive individuals and organizations by providing affordable spay/neuter procedures and humane education. Heartland Humane Society of Missouri is funded by adoption fees, donations, fundraising events, grants and tributes.
