Take A Short Canoe Ride on the Missouri

Big Muddy Speaker Series returns to St. Charles for presentation on the Missouri Corps of Engineers efforts to restore habitat on the Missouri River.

The Big Muddy Speaker series returns to St. Charles Oct. 10 for a short tour of the Missouri river and a presentation on politics and river restoration.

The speaker series is sponsored by Friends of the Big Muddy and Missouri River Relief and is held on the second Wednesday of each month at Big A's in downtown St. Charles.

This month, participants will be able to take a ride on the Junebug canoe with Mike Clark, of Big Muddy Adventures. Clark will take participants on a short ride through St. Charles.

According to the website, participants are asked to park near Big A's and walk to the river around 5 p.m.

The speaker this month will be Brook Spear, a lawyer with Great Rivers Environmental Center, who will talk about Missouri River restoration efforts and how the current "stalemate over how to handle sediment on the Missouri River impacts future restoration."

The afternoon canoe ride starts at 5 p.m. Presentation starts at 6:30 p.m. at Big A's. Plan to arrive at 6 p.m. if you'd like to order dinner.
