Public Input Sought for 110-Acre Riverfront Park
St. Charles City Parks Department is hosting several community planning sessions.
St. Charles residents are invited to a community planning session for the 110-acre park in north St. Charles.
The property, which is located north of Boeing Co. and between Highway 94 North, Hawning Road and the River Road, was donated to the city in 2000. Earlier this year the Parks Department began the process of developing a master plan for the site.
The planning session is scheduled from 6-8 p.m. Sept. 15 at in the Orchard Farm School District.

Some residents have suggested athletic fields, a Frisbee or disc golf course, or a BMX dirt track. Another possibility could be a festival area.

"Nearly every kid has a bike, and they all need to be outside more in a safe place out of traffic," wrote Cameron Brown.
Dawn Blackburn commented that she'd like to see the park turn into a Children's Living History Farm. Benjamin Eli wrote that he'd like to see the site considered for the city's Community Center.
Two more workshops are planned for later this year. A final session will solicit opinions on a draft park master plan.
