There's a new online effort to help the family of Jon Franklin, a St. Charles man who went missing Friday during a float trip on the Meramec River, fund their ongoing search effort.

Franklin was with a group of friends when he went missing near Eureka on May 31, just before storms set in that evening. Throughout last week volunteers participated in air, boat and foot searches, moving down the river through Castlewood State Park, Buder Park and Emmenegger Nature Park.

Monday they began covering areas of Route 66 Park and Fenton. Find out how to join the search.

Jessica Bulaclac has organized a fundraiser on YouCaring.com hoping to raise $5,000, all of which will go to the Franklin family to assist with search effort expenses.

"I know you all have your own memories and special stories involving Jon and other members of his family. Please consider a donation as a way of helping this VERY special family," she writes.

The fundraiser raised $1,390 as of Monday morning.
