There's lots going on today around St. Charles and the weather is starting get a little warmer, although it's supposed to storm this afternoon

I'm planning to drop into the St. Charles Kiwanis Club's pancake day in Blanchette Park, 1900 West Randolph. The event runs from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. and tickets cost $6 for adults and $4 for children.

The City Council will meet in work session tonight at 7 p.m. On the agenda:

  • Councilman Bob Kneemiller, Ward 4, requested the council talk about the operation and maintenance of city sewer plants. 
  • Kneemiller also asked for discussion about the city's trash contract with Allied Waste. The city is in the middle of a three-year contract with the company. The first contract extension would run from Jan. 1, 2012 to Dec. 31, 2012 and would require ordinance approval. According to a memo provided by the city, the number of complaints regarding trash service dropped from 769 in 2009 to 391 complaints in 2010. 

Also tonight, Lindenwood University basketball team will face Evangel University for the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championship tonight in Springfield, MO. The contest starts at 7 p.m. Watch live streaming action of the game here

This week the St. Charles Suburban Journal has a story about piece of property located near Boeing on north Highway 94 off of Hawning Road that St. Charles County gave to the city in hopes it would become a park.  Now the county is wondering whether the city has any intention of developing the property.
