Lane Closures Planned as Blanchette Bridge Reopens

Crews are working to reopen five lanes in each direction on bridge. Lane closures are expected from Aug. 21-Aug. 24.

The westbound span of the Blanchette Bridge reopened over the weekend after being closed for 8 months, but motorists are advised to continue to avoid the bridge while crews work to open up five lanes in each direction.
Just three lanes will be open on eastbound I-70 at the bridge until Saturday and until early next week for westbound I-70.

Schedule for lane closures, from MoDOT:

Wednesday, Aug. 21

  • Eastbound I-70 one lane closed on the bridge at 8 p.m., two lanes closed at 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. Ramp from southbound Fifth Street to eastbound I-70 will close from 1 a.m. until 5 a.m. 
  • Westbound I-70, two lanes closed from I-270 to the bridge from midnight to 5 a.m.
Thursday, Aug. 22
  • Eastbound I-70, one lane closed from First Capitol to the bridge from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. Ramp from First Capitol Drive to eastbound I-70 closed from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. 
  • Westbound I-70, one lane closed from I-270 to Earth City Expressway from 2 a.m. to 5 a.m. and ramps from I-270 to westbound I-70 closed from 2 a.m. to 5 a.m.
Friday, Aug. 23
  • Eastbound I-70, one lane closed at the bridge from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
