Daily Dose: St. Charles County Urges Ending Proposed I-70 Toll Road at Wentzville

Also, a new director for the Society of St. Vincent de Paul named.

The Senate Transportation Committee heard testimony about a proposed toll road on Interstate 70 Wednesday.

A representative for St. Charles County Executive Steve Ehlmann asked the commission to consider stopping the tolls before they reach Wentzville, according to an article in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch

  • According to a story in the St. Louis Review, John Foppe was named executive director of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul of St. Louis, which offers crisis intervention and  homelessness prevention, among other services. The Society of St. Vincent de Paul has a in St. Charles.
  • St. Charles Suburban Journal writes about the mother of a woman who was murdered in 1995 in St. Charles County who is awaiting the day the murderer will be executed. Michael Shane Worthington's last federal appeal was in 2010, but the state is having difficulty obtaining a drug needed for execution. 
  • St. Charles Suburban Journals publisher Dave Bundy is leaving for a position in Lincoln, Neb. as editor of a newspaper there. He will be replaced by Jennifer Wood, who has served as senior vice president of advertising for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
