Daily Dose: High School Athletes, Warm Weather

Next week the five St. Charles County Patch sites will introduce a new feature where you can nominate and vote for the best local high school athletes in the area.

Each week, one high school athlete from each of our Patch sites—Lake Saint Louis Patch; O'Fallon Patch; St. Charles Patch; St. Peters Patch; and Wentzville Patch—will be nominated for the honor. You'll get the chance to vote for your favorites.

The person with the most votes at the end of the voting period will win Patch swag.

How to take part

You can nominate a student athlete who attends high school in St. Charles County by emailing Wentzville Patch Editor Brian Feldt at brianf@patch.com. And when nominating, be sure to include the following:

  • Student's full name
  • High school the student attends
  • Sport and position (if applicable) the student plays
  • A brief explanation as to why this student should be an Athlete of the Week nominee
  • Your name and contact information

  • St. Louis Independent Bookstore Alliance posted a list of bestsellers for 2011. On the list were The Help, by Kathryn Stockett, Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot and Room by Emily Donaghue. in St. Charles is a member of the Alliance.
  • signed a number of players to the football team Wednesday. Among the locals are Jaz Granderson, of Kirkwood who is transfering from University of Northern Iowa, freshmen Joe Stevens of Vianney High School, Lucas Sandheinrich of Kirkwood High School, Phillip Posley, of Parkway North High School, Brendan Norwine of Christian High School, Stephen Gorczyca of Parkway West High School, Kylann Clayborn of Niversity City High School, and Corey King of Francis Howell High School.
