5 things to do in St. Charles May 21

Check out our list of things happening this weekend.

1. St. Charles Farmers Market, take two. The rain last weekend meant few people and even fewer vendors set up in the parking lot at the north end of the Riverside Drive on what was supposed to be the opening of the market.  This weekend, organizer Gerry Shatro said he expects to see between 10 and 15 booths. Vendors pay $10 per parking space to sell their items. The market is a fundraiser for the St. Charles Lions Club. 

2. Barbecue. St. Charles Optimist Club will hold a barbecue from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday at the parking lot of the . Proceeds will benefit the City of  

3. Historical Children's Fest. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at , 200-216 South Main Street in St. Charles. Kids can try out churning butter, making candles and writing with quill pens. Musical group Wildheart will perform from 1 - 3 p.m. Activities are free to the public.

4. Lewis and Clark Heritage Days. Step back in history on Saturday and celebrate the 1804 departure of Lewis and Clark from St. Charles on their expedition. Experience the camp, fire starting contests, music demonstrations, and check out the keel boats at the .

  • 11 a.m. Parade along South Main Street
  • 12 p.m. Morgan Horse Demonstration
  • 1 p.m. Military Tactical Demonstration
  • 2 p.m. John Dengler Memorial Fife and Drum Muster

  • 4 p.m. Artillery/Firearms

5. Paint a mug. is transitioning to an online-only business. Until June 15 you can get 40 percent off unpainted pottery. Paint the Moon Pottery is open Saturdays from noon to 10 p.m.
