PIRATE PICTURES LAUNCH NEW WEBSITE

Pirate Pictures is literally inside of a hole in a wall.

Tucked away in St. Charles’s historic and scenic main street is a tiny office littered with makeup props, film set equipment, and awards. A lot of awards. But it is within those brick walls is where producer Gayle Gallagher and writer/director Wyatt Weed plant the seeds of creativity.

I originally met the two at a lecture where they discussed their unconventional path on starting a production company. Both Webster University alums, Wyatt went on to L.A. and did practical FX work for a series of feature length films and television shows before returning to St. Louis. Therefore, he brought the knowledge and skills he obtained from the city of angels to the Midwest, which sounds like an illogical route to some. However, in doing so, Wyatt brought a series of opportunities for people residing in St. Louis who have not been able to go to the center of the filmmaking world. Over time, Wyatt recruited fellow alum, Gayle, who started out in radio production but eventually began to excel in event organizing, to contribute on projects. Thus, Pirate Pictures was born.

Together, the two have worked on bringing the St. Louis film industry closer together and have made efforts to promote networking amongst local filmmakers. In the meantime, they have also produced music videos, features (check out ”Shadowland”. It’s fun.) and videos for a range of clients.

Gayle especially has made an effort to bring awareness of the St. Louis film industry and what the city has to offer. She has arranged multiple events and facebook groups to help create a tighter group of filmmakers. Her knowledge and unbelievable kindness has helped someone such as myself become a better producer, and I am forever grateful to her.

Their new website has launched and it is definitely worth it to check it out:http://www.piratepictures.net/
