Electrical Connection and Radio Disney Plan 2013-14 Energy Education Program for Area Schools and Communities

ST. LOUIS – After completing another energizing energy education program for St. Louis area school children, theElectrical Connection and Radio Disney AM 1260 are planning the 2013-2014 program for area schools and communities.  Now in its third year, the effort is a creative way to deliver practical applications to STEM subjects – science, technology, engineering and math.  Teaming with Radio Disney AM 1260, the Electrical Connection provides an engaging look at the impact of all types of energy on daily lives. Seven schools in the region have participated in the education program to date.

For the 2012-2013 school year, the Electrical Connection and Radio Disney delivered highly-charged presentations to students in the Parkway School District at Pierremont Elementary School in Ballwin, Mo. and in the Hazelwood School Districtat Cold Water Elementary School in Florissant, Mo.  It also held a presentation in the St. Louis Archdiocesan school of St. Paul Elementary in Fenton, Mo.

The presentation creatively engages students in all types of energy by dividing them into two teams to compete for prizes as they answer questions about energy from the Electrical Connection and Radio Disney AM 1260.  Topics include electrical safety, where energy comes from and different types of energy.  Students learn about power plants, solar energy, geothermal energy, charging electric vehicles, energy conservation, career paths and more.
