Wards 6, 8 and 10 have several people running for election April 2.
Three incumbent St. Charles council members face opposition in their bids for reelection on April 2. The races for wards, 6, 8 and 10 all include at least two candidates. Both councilmen Dave Beckering, Ward 7, and Ron Stivison, Ward 9, face no opposition in this election and will be reelected to another three-year term. Ward 6 Councilman Jerry Reese, a consultant, faces Richard Wenger, a first-time candidate. Reese, who was first elected to the council in 2004, said he's running for reelection because he feels he is doing a good job. Wenger said he was motivated to run because he believes he would bring a sense of fiscal responsibility to the position. Wenger added that he believes the city has done a better job of publicizing …

St. Charles will ask voters for a second time to approve a bond issue to pay for repairs to the crumbling garage on second street.
St. Charles voters will get another chance to consider a bond issue to pay for repairs to the city parking garage located on Second Street under St. Charles City Hall. In November, a proposed $3.3 million bond issue for repairs to the garage failed to get enough votes to pass. About 49.5 percent voted in favor of the bonds for the parking garage and 50.5 percent voted against it. The issue needed 57 percent approval to pass. But the city council opted to bring the issue back to the voters, this time for $3.8 million in general obligation bonds, with a plan to better educate the public about why the repairs are needed.
