Bryce Steinhoff lost his bid to become a St. Charles City Council member by just four votes. By law, he's allowed to ask for a recount and that's exactly what he's doing.
Bryce Steinhoff is exercising his right to a recount of his four-vote loss to City Councilwoman Bridget Ohmes on April 2, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. Ohmes reclaimed her seat on the city council with 482 votes, just four more than Ohmes' 478. State law allows a candidate to ask for a recount if they lose the vote by less than one percent of the total votes cast in the race. Elections Director Rich Chrismer said he expected a judge to schedule the recount for sometime next month, the Post-Dispatch report said. During the April 2 election, council members Jerry Reese (Ward 6) and Rod Herrmann (Ward 8) also won reelection to their respective seats. Voters passed Proposition R 3,738 (66.22 percent) to 1,873 (33.38 percent) giving the city money to repair the parking garage.

Voters pick one incumbent and one newcomer to St. Charles School Board; voters in Francis Howell keep on the incumbents.
St. Charles School Board incumbent Donna Towers has been re-elected for another three-year term. This will be Towers' fourth term on the board. Incumbent Mike Throne, however, has lost his seat on the school board to newcomer Marita Malone. Malone, who is an adjunct instructor at Saint Louis University, has a Ph.D. in Public Administration and a Master's in Business Administration. Six candidates were running for two seats on the St. Charles School District Board of Directors. Ron Aldred, Sylvia Garzia, Howard Faith, and Marita Malone challenged the incumbents. A St. Charles city parking garage located on Second Street under St. Charles City Hall will get some repairs following Tuesday's results in the municipal election. It took a second appearance on the ballot to get the funds, but voters passed Proposition R 3,738 (66.22 percent) to 1,873 (33.38 percent). The yes vote gives the city $3.8 million in general obligation bonds. The debt created by the bonds would be repaid with existing property tax funds and the tax rate would not increase. The facility was built in 1973 and underwent structural repairs in 1995. A 2009 survey of the garage showed major structural problems including missing concrete, exposed rebar and exposed staircases, which has led to rusted handrails and peeling paint. The…

The three incumbent city council members up for reelection all got the nod from voters on Tuesday and reclaimed seats on the St. Charles City Council. One won by the slimmest of margins.
