Tilted Kilt Takes a Fling in St. Charles

New Celtic-themed restaurant and bar modeled after Hooters to open off South First Capitol Drive in March

The target date for the new Celtic-themed Tilted Kilt Pub and Eatery to open is March 11, less than a week from St. Patrick’s Day.

“We have beer on tap, a full bar, a full menu with everything from wings through steaks,” said franchise owner Paul DiBenedetto. “We’ll have 45 flat-screen TVs with roughly every sports package you can think of.”

The new restaurant will open at 1566 Country Club Plaza Drive along South First Capitol Drive, formerly Wiliker’s Bar and Restaurant.

The Tilted Kilt is like Hooters with a Scottish-Irish theme. Its website reads, “A cold beer never looked so good.”

The staff’s costumes include white knee socks, short kilts, a white, tied off top that shows midriff and reveals a plaid bra that matches the kilt. They are currently holding "auditions" for staff.

“I think people will come because of our great pub, our excellent food, to watch sports on TV and of ours our beautiful wait staff,” DiBenedetto said.

Wiliker's was a popular location, but it closed due to flooding in 2008 after remnants of Hurricane Ike hit the area.

“We made sure the flooding issue has been addressed,” DiBenedetto said. “We wouldn’t have done the deal if there hadn’t been some physical changes to the site to address the flooding. It’s clean and taken care of. We also have some extra flood insurance.”

The St. Charles establishment will be the only Tilted Kilt in Missouri, although there are 60 franchises countrywide. The closest Tilted Kilt is in Peoria, and several are clustered around the Chicago area. A franchise in Arnold closed because the establishment was small and the area didn’t develop as expected.

@Jane --- You'd think, right? I don't know if that would attract as much clientele :)

@Kalen: lol! Maybe one a shift? It might attract me...food's got to be decent, too, though! The descriptions & few pictures look good.

We're still hoping to receive the press photos from Tilted Kilt of the staff. If you go to their website, you can get a sense of what the place will be like. I used to work at Wiliker's back in the day. I'm interested to check it out.

Ladies, I know lots of Scottish guys that have no problem wearing kilts, if you need "a fix" of 'em.

they absolutly will have to have a nice happy hour to compete with the other resturraunts and bars. St charles is known for nice happy hou priced. I just hoe the tilted kilt doen;t act like a corperate resporaunt ad can make the st charles location much more local friendly. was there for soft opening but it was way to confusing and noisy to get a good feel how it will be run 3 months from now. another Irsh pub in downtown st charles offers half price apipetisers 3 dollor pints, and thats on all draft beer not just domestic 2.75 house wines and a patio that is the envy of mainsreet. I hope the francise owner can keep a local flavor, I e the daily happy hour specials and types of beers that make you want to come back.

I know that place on Main Street! My favorite restaurant & we rarely go anywhere else, anymore. (Hi, Wade! Yet to meet you or your dad, but soon!)

half price apps that tast HALF as good. MAYBE. i appreciate the overall feel of the place and really dig the selection they have. It is nice to see a place, FINALLY that has a draft system that serves a perfect, CLEAN, beer. Not to mention, the girls are good looking, so the boys shouldn't be saying a SINGLE negative word. I think this place is gonna rock it. For the soft opening having it together, the way they do, already, i feel looks acceptionally promising

What place around town that has a bar isn't noisy. Even TGI Friday's you can't hear yourself talking most times.
