Three Charged in Brandon Joyce's Shooting
Police are still searching for a fourth suspect in the Christmas Eve St. Charles incident.
Three men have been charged in the killing of Brandon Joyce, a 26-year-old Duchesne High School graduate from unincorporated St. Charles County.
O'Fallon resident Cory J. Brooks, 21, Tory T. Brooks, 21, of St. Charles, and Deveon C. Shockley, 21, of St. Louis were taken into custody Dec. 27 and on Dec. 28 charged in connection with Joyce's murder.
Police said the three men, along with a fourth person, tried to rob Joyce during a drug deal early on the morning of Dec. 24.
According to court documents, investigators say the fourth suspect shot Joyce in the head, then all the men fled. Joyce died at 3:50 a.m. Dec. 28 at SSM St. Joseph Health Center.
Cory Brooks, Tory Brooks and Shockley were charged with murder in the second, two counts of armed criminal action and attempted robbery in the first degree. They are being held on $1 million cash-only bond.
According to the probable cause statement, Joyce was trying to purchase narcotics from Cory Brooks. The fourth suspect got in the car with Joyce and directed him to several locations until they arrived behind America's Best Value Inn & Suites. A struggle ensued and the fourth suspect shot Joyce once the head with a large caliber revolver.
Investigators videotaped Cory Brooks, Tory Brooks and Shockley confirming their involvement in the incident, according to the probable cause statement.
