St. Charles Celebrates Missouri's Statehood Day
Missouri joined the union as the 24th state on Aug. 10, 1821. The First Missouri State Capitol Historic Site celebrated Wednesday.
First Missouri State Capitol State Historic Site celebrated the 190th anniversary of Missouri's statehood day. On Aug. 10, 1821, President James Monroe signed Missouri into the Union as the 24th state in the union.
St. Charles was the first state capitol between 1821 and 1826 while the Capitol building was under construction in Jefferson City.
