The St. Louis Cardinals take on the Philadelphia Phillies in Game 3 of the National League Division Series this afternoon, with the first pitch at 4:07 p.m. in Busch Stadium. Have you got a plan to watch the game?
St. Louis Post-Dispatch columnist Bernie Miklasz called the Cardinals a team with grit in his latest column about the team: “Philadelphia might be shocked, but not St. Louis. The Cardinals never were supposed to be here. They were done, gone, finished. They trailed Atlanta by 10.5 games in the NL wild card race on Aug. 24, then proceeded to destroy every piece of conventional wisdom.”
Meanwhile, Philadelphia Daily News columnist Paul Hagen laments the format of a series in which “a bad bounce here, a bloop hit there can send the team with the best record in baseball packing and the club that snuck into the postseason on the last day of the season one step closer to the World Series.”
So, we’ll be watching, one way or another. Prime-time isn’t an option for us. That slot goes to the Yankees at Detroit (7:30 p.m.) and Milwaukee at the Diamondbacks (8:30 p.m.)
