New Town to Hold Mardi Gras Parade Sunday
Second annual event happens rain or shine at 2 p.m. Feb. 10.
New Town residents are prepared to "laissez les bon temps rouler" during the second annual Mardi Gras Parade.
The parade will start at 2 p.m. Sunday at 3333 Rue Royale St., St. Charles, cross down Rue Royale, turn left on Denker, left on Reed Crossing Street, left on South Shutten Street, left on New Town Lake Drive and right on Rue Royale.
Participation is free and participants are asked to register in advance by calling the New Town General Assembly at 636-916-2085.
Last year was the first time New Town held the parade, but more participation is expected this year. Pets and costumes are encouraged.
"It's just a short, little parade," she said. "Last year we had 15 or 20 people. We had people come and had actual floats. We were so excited."
The parade is a "family-friendly" one in which beads will be thrown but blouses should remain down, Galati said.
Afterward,St. Charles Christian Church is holding a "Shrove Tuesday" pancake supper from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Admission is $5.
This year, the New Town parade will be the only Mardi Gras parade in town. The St. Charles Jaycees will not host a Mardi Gras parade through Frenchtown as they have in previous years.

Is the time 2:30 or 2:00? There are conflicting times listed in body of the article and the title.
