Man Tries to Eat Evidence in Heroin Sting, Police Say

The man managed to swallow some heroin and fought with police to eat more, St. Charles Police said.

A man who sold heroin to a person working with St. Charles Police swallowed heroin and fought with officers in an attempt to swallow more of the evidence Saturday, police said.

John S. Faupel, 32, of the 9700 block of Treadway Lane in Edmundson, was charged with distributing a controlled substance and resisting arrest.

St. Charles Police said a person working with officers arranged to buy heroin from Faupel for $80 at the at the Arch Budget Hotel, 3717 Veterans Memorial Parkway in St. Charles, on Saturday.

When he arrived at the room and police attempted to arrest him, Faupel began swallowing the heroin, according to the report. Faupel also fought with officers in an attempt to swallow more heroin, police said.

Police said that during the drug deal, Faupel’s 8-year-old son was outside waiting in the car. Police found drug paraphernalia and more heroin in the car, according to the report.

Faupel was being held in St. Charles County jail Tuesday in lieu of a $90,000, cash-only bond.
