Man Charged With Assault in 2010 Blanchette Bridge Accident
Police said the man's blood-alcohol content was .12 percent during the accident.
A St. Charles County man was charged Friday with causing a 2010 accident on the Blanchette Bridge while driving drunk.
Anthony Hutchins, 28, of the 1300 block of Summergate Parkway in St. Charles County, was charged with second-degree assaul and driving while intoxicated.
St. Louis County Police said Hutchins was speeding at 4:50 a.m. Sept. 25, 2010 when he hit the back of the first victim’s car. The collision caused that car to spin out of control and hit two bridge walls. A third car then struck the second car.
Drivers of both victims’ cars were injured. The second driver had bruises to the back of his head. The third driver had a punctured lung, broken ribs and a chipped hip bone. Hutchins also was taken to the hospital with lower back pain.
Police said his blood-alcohol content was .12 percent. A driver is considered intoxicated at .08 percent.
Bond was set at $15,000. Hutchins currently is serving a 12-year sentence for distributing or manufacturing controlled substances in St. Charles County.
