Friday Food Critic: Talayna's World Class Pizza
Each week, we nominate a new restaurant for you to review. That's right, you're the local expert.
When it comes to restaurants, St. Charles has it covered.
We have some great local places that many would consider community gems; we have some restaurants that aren't exactly mom-and-pop but are unique to the area; and we certainly—for better or for worse—have plenty of chains lining our main streets.
But what we don't have is a consistent food critic to tell us what's good and what's not.
That's where you come in.
We could throw some money at a professional food critic, but that's not exactly what Patch is all about. We'd much rather know the opinion of the fine folks that eat there day-in and day-out.
It's your community. You eat the food. You tell us if it passes the mark.
That's why we are introducing The Friday Food Critic, where each week we will put a different restaurant on the chopping block. You tell us how you feel about it, what dishes are good, who has the best drink specials and so forth.
This week's restaurant is Talayna's World Class Pizza, a local pizza joint in the heart of downtown St. Charles.
To review Talayna's World Class Pizza, simply click on their name (or THIS LINK). You'll be directed toward their community listing in our places directory, where you can rate them on a five-star system or write a personal review.
Here's what Barbara, a St. Charles Patch reader, had to say about Talayna's:
If you have not tried Talayna's you are missing a gem! Food is always outstanding, service is pleasant and prompt and prices are very reasonable. This is a restaurant for the entire family!
At St. Charles Patch, we believe your words of wisdom are better than any food critic.
What are you waiting for? Let the reviewing begin!

Growing up in NYC I think Talanya's has the closest thing to my beloved NY style pizza this side of the Hudson. That being said, I will not pay more for it; either raise your other prices, or eliminate your tax for NY style pizza, otherwise I will not patronize..

I think Talanya's is very good as well. Saying that my brother Mark is my Executive Chef and Partner at Padavan's NY in New Town. When Mark was in NY he was written up MANY times for his fantastic entrees and was also known for the best Pizza in The Hampton's. We grew up in Westhampton Beach so I know what you mean about missing NY Pizza. Our pizza is the real deal. We have regular Neopolitan (NY Style for those that don't know) and Sicilian. We use a Blogette brick oven just like the ones he used back in NY. I'm not asking you to stop going to Talayna's because they are very good, well run and all around good people, I'm asking you to try us out too.
