Laura Lloyd was also a newcomer to the Foundry Art Centre in November. In the past couple of years Laura has moved from oil painting to spending the majority of her time working with clay sculpture. Her whimsical sculptures start from a rough form of paper covered with clay, sculpted, fired in her kiln and then painted. Originally, from Wisconsin, Laura has lived and raised her family in St. Charles for the past 10 years. She loves the move from working on her kitchen table to the studio at the Foundry Art Centre though she admits to occasionally still firing up the kiln she has at home.
Lloyd is a new artist at the Foundry. She moved into a studio in November.
Tamara Peeples is known as the color lady. The inspiration for her colorful Mixed Media Artwork comes from from the world of science. She is inspired by looking under a microscope, browsing National Geographic, and imagining what life might be like on other planets. Children love to visit her fun and colorful studio where they can also usually find a cartoon or kids program playing on the TV.
Peeples has so many ideas in her head, she can't make them happen fast enough. She moved her studio from home to the Foundry Arts Centre in November. Her husband saw a call for artists and encouraged her to submit her pieces for approval. Tamara was thrilled to be chosen as one of three new artists for the Centre out of 12 entries. She said she can't stop smiling every day as she enters the studio and chats with the other artists and guests. Currently a resident of St. Peters, Peeples is looking for a home in St. Charles so she can be closer to the Foundry Art Centre.

Life in St. Charles is a weekly photo column capturing images of the people who live and work in St. Charles. Everyone has a story, and this column seeks to capture it.
