V.J. Fitzpatrick is apparently destined to become a big name in area prep football.
Fort Zumwalt North saw its senior quarterback run circles around Duchesne on his way to an amazing six touchdowns as the Panthers routed the Pioneers, 50-16, in each team’s season opener.
Duchesne kept the game close until the second half before Zumwalt North broke it open in the second half. In fact, the Pioneers led 16-8 early in the contest, only to be dominated in the second half, 30-0.
Fitzpatrick’s memorable performance included TD runs from 64, 28, 20, 56 and 80 yards. He finished with an astounding 298 yards rushing on a mere 13 carries.
