Eros Serves Up Greek Food on Main
Restaurateur Patrick "Pepe" Kehm tries Greek food in St. Charles.
St. Louis restaurateur Patrick "Pepe Kehm" has opened a new Greek restaurant in St. Charles called Eros.
The "eclectic" Greek taverna, offers a mix of hot and cold small plates, or mezes, Greek-style sandwiches and kebabs on the menu and a rotating selction of big plates written on the chalkboard each night.
Danielle Zavradinos, who calls herself the "resident Greek," said the restaurant opened Aug. 15, just days before the annual Festival of the Little Hills, which attracts hundreds of thousands of people to St. Charles.
"Talk about throwing yourself to the wolves," she said.
Zavradinos said Kehm was looking at spaces and wanted a new place. She said 140 North Main Street "came open at at the right time."
Cobblestones restaurant used to be located in the space.
Eros was described as a restaurant/club, which will be open Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to midnight and will be closed Sunday and Monday.
Kehm has previously been involved with five restaurants in the St. Louis area, according to an article in the St. Louis Business Journal. Those include the now-closed Corky's in Dogtown, Spaghetteria Mamma Mia, which started in Dogtown and moved to South Vandeventer and closed in July 2012, Bistro Toi, open just six weeks.
Kehm is involved with Shiver Vodka Bar and Champagne Lounge on Washington Ave.

While eating there, heard the owner in the kitchen area downstairs screaming at the help. He went walking through the area and looked like he was drunk. I asked the waitress who that was and she said the owner. I'm not sure I want to eat in a place that is ran by someone like that. The food was ok but cold, greasy and it looked like it had been purchased and put on the plate instead of prepared from scratch. Not impressed.

The owner is Pepe Kehm, and he has been pulling this nonsense at the establishments he has owned for decades. Anyone wanna bet how long it's goona be before he runs this restarant into the ground? Pathetic.

Enjoyed the first visit, and would return for a second. My colleague and I both enjoyed our meals very much. The Greek Salad was perfect to my liking with a wonderful and light dressing. The ravioli in broth was a fantastic alternative to the normal cream sauce.
To the criticisms above: To me, Eros was pleasingly reminiscent of independent and sometimes 'ethnic' restaurants, before the proliferation of 'Olive Gardens' style restaurant. I didn't witness Pepe yelling at employees, and wouldn't have condoned it if I had, but it wouldn't have seemed out of place in Eros as it would in a corporate restaurant. Hopefully Pepe is making an effort to improve in that area, because I much prefer 'authentic' style independent places to the conglomerate alternative.

My wife and I went to Eros last night for dinner. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, modern though kept enough warmth to be rather cozy. Our waitress was very warm and engaging. I over heard her make a comment to another waitress that she seemed unsure about something with the table she was serving. Our waitress offered and assisted the other waitress with her customers. The staff seemed to really care about their customers and each other. Our waitress at the same time had perfect timimg and when and how often the came to our table. She was really paying close attention. The food was off the charts. The Greek salad was the best I have had. My wife was commenting abot of all things, the green beans. They were the best we have ever tasted. My wife stated her steak was the best she has had since being at a 5 star restaurant on our last cruise. She said she thinks the red wine sauce is what did it. My lamb was delicious and actualy fell off the bone. Everything was delicious. The waitress was actualy able to tell us what was used with the cooking of each item, wow was she good. I feel like we found a 4++ star restaurant cleverly disguised as a place to stop in for a bite to eat.

just ate there for lunch--food not too bad, however $8 for a smallll glass of house wine was outrageous!! we can go anywhere in st chas or st chas county and get house wine with a meal for $4 -$5--guess he is making his money off the wine--food was nothing to rave about---certainly not great Greek!

Expensive, overated, and noisey the night we were there, appeard to be a graduation party in the bar area with over a dozen under age drinkers reveling it up! Maybe all their commotion drowned out the owner yelling at the help in the kitchen?
