Dorsey's Corner Store Moves Down the Street
Lori Dorsey will reopen her shop under the name Frenchtown Country Market.
A year and a half after opening Dorsey's Corner Store, Lori Dorsey decided to close up shop at 1328 North Second Street and move down the street.
Dorsey hopes to reopen under the name "Frenchtown Country Market" at 1106 North Second Street, which used to be the home of 2nd Street Hair Salon.
"I love this space, but I needed a few things that weren't available here," she said in her last few days at her first location.
The new location will give Dorsey room for larger coolers for fresh produce, farm fresh eggs, and Wenneman Meats. The outside of the building will provide space for Dorsey to sell more flowers.
"It's bigger, I can expand and I'm going to carry a full line of produce," Dorsey said.
She also plans to offer Missouri wines, specialty beers and an old-fashioned coffee mill. Connections to Success will bake bread and cookies for the shop and Dorsey has plans for a candy counter and ice cream freezer.
Like at her first location, Dorsey will continue to sell country store antiques. She said she decided to stay in Frenchtown because she really likes the area.
"I like the mix of houses and business. It's a very welcoming neighborhoood," she said. "The neighborhood has been very supportive of me."
Dorsey plans to be open by the end of March. The new store hours will be from 7 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5p.m. Saturday, and 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday.
