Deputies Find Meth Lab in Backseat Backpack

Two people were charged with intent to make methamphetamine after a traffic stop.

A man and a woman face criminal charges after officers found a disassembled meth lab in a backpack during a traffic stop Aug. 27.

Jason Barnes, 33, and Katherine Sullivan, 36, of the 2000 block of Hackmann Estates Drive in St. Charles were charged Tuesday with intent to manufacture methamphetamine and illegal use of drug paraphernalia.

A deputy spotted Barnes and Sullivan in the vehicle’s backseat with a backpack that contained chemicals, equipment and tools used to make meth. The backpack also had spoons and syringes, according to court documents.

Bond was set at $50,000 each for Barnes and Sullivan, cash only.
