Food Trucks in Frontier Event Draws Crowds to Park
Event drew thousands to the park for live music and food.

Thousands of people crowded into Frontier Park Thursday night for the first-ever Food Truck event in St. Charles.
Food trucks Burger Ink, Cha Cha Chow, El Gran Taco, Go Gyro Go, Hot Aztec, Papa Tom's Fancy Franks, Sarah's Cake Stop, Sarah's Meltdown, Speedway Eatery, The Sweet Divine and Zia's "On the Hill" lined up in Frontier Park.
Parking lots bordering Riverside Drive were full by 5 p.m. Thursday, when the event started. By 6:30 p.m. the lines of attendees stretched deep into the park.
Live music was provided by musicians Clayton Jones and Eric Prewitt, from Rhythm Music and Performing Arts Studio.
Park Board member TJ Slattery said in an email that an estimated 3,000 people were in attendance.
The St. Charles Parks Department plans to host another Food Truck event in April 2013.

The food selection was diverse, the weather was gorgeous, the music was beautiful and the crowd was friendly. What a great evening in Saint Charles, and kudos goes to the Saint Charles Parks and Recreation Department for making this event possible. Hope this will be the beginning of many more Food Truck events in Frontier Park.

I hope they continue this event, but I also hope it is better run in the future. I was down there for two hours and with the long wait times I ended up eating exactly one taco, and drank one cup of wine (forget beer, that line was ridiculous)

The story above says a couple hundreds people and I would have to disagree. There were a couple thousand people there. It was a perfect night for it, great weather, good music, variety of foods (the bacon melt was AMAZING). I agree the lines were long, but it was a new experience and I don't believe this was the turn out that was expected. It might been a little overwhelming for some, but if the only complaints were that the lines was to long, then I think it was successful for all of those involved. It was wonderful to have that many citizens from the city all enjoying themselves along with their families and friends. Even the food truck vendors were stunned by the turn out. Several even ran out of food. Can't wait for the next one. GREAT JOB EVERYONE AND THANKS TJ!!!

Thanks Lisa- I just got updated numbers from the Parks Department and they say they estimate 3,000 people! I've updated the story. Glad you had a good time.
